Old Growth Ventures Receives Prestigious Preservation Award for Sixth Ward Restoration

The Good Brick Award by Preservation Houston is one of the most prestigious preservation awards in the country.

This year's awardee included the Restored Apollo controlroom at NASA, Christchurch Cathedral, the Petroleum Building, and a number of historic home renovations, including Old Growth Ventures' first two historic renovations in Old Sixth Ward at 908 Sabine St.

The award is given in a number of categories, and a jury of experts weighs a preservation and restoration based on a series of criteria.

Our projects were complete restoration of 908 Sabine St (shown here), an 1890s Folk Victorian in Old Sixth Ward that had not been in use in 30 years, and its sister 908 1/2 Sabine, a 1915 Craftsman Bungalow.

The two houses were completely restored, every system and every surface, and were uniquely done to National Park Service Historic Rehabiltation Standards, and are one of the very few projects, as well as the smallest ever, to receive a Good Brick Award and be Certified as Certified Historic Rehabilitation of a Certified Historic Structure by the Texas Historical Commission.

We were proud to accept our award at the annual Cornerstone Dinner alongside some amazing ans passionate preservationists.
