We are pleased to announce receipt of a Certificate of Appropriateness to rehabilitate a historic craftsman style bungalow in Houston, 910 Renner, located in Old Sixth Ward located off 908 Sabine.
Established in 1853 Old Sixth Ward is one of Houston's oldest neighborhoods, was the first National Register Historic District in Houston. It houses Houston's finest example of turn of the century living, nestled inside the Loop alongside Buffalo Bayou and Memorial Drive in the heart of the city core between the Heights and Downtown. Many of the homes are beautifully restored.
Old Growth Ventures principal Neal Dikeman would like to thank the Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission (HAHC) and the City of Houston's Historic Preservation Office in the Department of Planning and Development for approval of our project to save and rehabilitate this 100+ year old bungalow. Old Sixth Ward is one of the most dynamic and well preserved, thanks in large part to an active neighborhood association. We would also like to thank Grayform Architecture and Solutions Builders who are undertaking this project.
This house is 910 Renner, built in the 1910s in classic craftsman bungalow style. Renner Ct was named for one of the original owners in the area, and was a street off Washington Avenue since torn down by a developer for condos. 910 Renner is a great example of bungalow architecture, and will be restored. The house is one of the few remaining 1800s houses in Houston, and is located off Sabine St, one of the last remaining original brick streets in Houston, slated for restoration by the city.
